In 1936, the Highland Theater was established. After years of showing movies, it began to decline; an extensive renovation project was started, and the theater once again became a popular haunt among Akron locals. This is not just your typical "Hollywood 20"
type of movie theater. Featured presentations incorporate modern day hits such as "Polluck" and popular live musical acts such as the band "Seven Mary Three." The theater also promotes special nights such as DVD night and post movie Blues Night. As an added feature, this is the city's only theater that serves alcohol, and guests can enjoy a cocktail or two (without missing a scene or a song) in the China White Lounge that is located in the back of the theater. |
